A product advisor that tells the buyer which model to order

An industrial catalogue where the buyer describes their site in plain words and gets back a specific model with the reason for it — so the enquiry that follows already has a configuration attached.

Everything inside this frame is a demonstration. AumPower is not a real company, and the models, specifications and prices are invented. What is real is the behaviour — that is the part being shown.

  1. 01

The buyer describes the site in plain words — no model number required.

  2. 02

It reads the product records and the specification PDFs the company already had.

  3. 03

It answers with one named system, its numbers, and why that one.

  4. 04

The enquiry leaves with that configuration attached.

The problem

A company sells eight battery storage systems that differ by a handful of numbers. Buyers do not know those numbers. They know the factory loses power twice a month, that the electricity bill spikes in the afternoon, and roughly what they can spend. So they send an email that says "please advise", and a salesperson spends twenty minutes writing back the same three paragraphs they wrote yesterday. Across every enquiry that is a full-time job, and it produces nothing anyone can reuse.

What we built

We put an advisor beside the catalogue rather than in front of it. The buyer types the situation in their own words; the advisor reads the same product records the shop pages are built from, along with the specification documents the company already had sitting in PDFs, and comes back with a named model, its numbers, and why that one. Every answer points at a real product page, so nothing it says is unverifiable. The catalogue, the filters, the saved shortlist and the enquiry route are ordinary WooCommerce — the advisor is the part that has to be built, because the reasoning is the company’s own and no plugin ships it.

Try it yourself

  • Open the advisor and pick “Factory backup power” — the catalogue behind it scrolls to the model it settles on.
  • Ask about an EU project instead. The answer changes, because the compliance package puts a different system first.
  • Tick “Show selection details” before you ask, and you can see what it read on the way to the answer.
  • Save a couple of systems with the heart. That shortlist is what an enquiry would arrive carrying.

Who this suits

Anyone selling a range where the customer cannot name the product they need: machinery, industrial equipment, building materials, components sold by specification, anything quoted rather than priced.

The catalogue, accounts, cart and enquiry handling are standard WordPress and WooCommerce, running on hosting you own. Only the part that is specific to your business gets written from scratch.
